From 30 September, Google's Workspace APIs let apps leave comments in your files and, in Docs, submit changes as suggestions. Your tools can now ask before they edit.
Google announced on 30 September that reusable 'skills' will replace Gems across Gemini and Workspace. Skills start rolling out on 5 October, and Gems stop working from 1 March 2027 at the earliest.

Google Workspace now lets super admins assign admin roles with an end date. When the time is up, the access is removed automatically. It is available on every Workspace edition.
You can now point Gemini in Google Docs at a Gemini Notebook, and it will write using those sources and add citations. It is available now on Business Standard and above.
Google Meet's Take notes for me now opens on a one-page summary. From 29 September, a new setting turns on automatic notes for meetings with three or more people, and it is on by default for Business plans.

Google switched on built-in interoperability between Meet and Microsoft Teams on Android-based room hardware. It is in Early Preview, and it only covers meeting rooms.
