Google Vids now makes AI clips up to 15 seconds long, so your product might finally look like the same product in every shot

Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash is now in Google Vids, with AI clips of up to 15 seconds and better consistency when you use reference images. It's on every Workspace Business plan.
The short version
- Google Vids now uses Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, which makes AI video clips of 3 to 15 seconds.
- It started rolling out on 5 November to all Workspace Business plans, and it has no admin control.
- Try it for short social clips using your own product images, and watch every clip before it goes public.
AI video has a habit of giving you a blue mug in shot one and a slightly different blue mug in shot two. Google says its latest update helps with that.
What changed in Google Vids?
Google Vids now runs Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, a newer video model that generates clips of up to 15 seconds. You choose the length on a slider.
Google says characters and products stay more consistent from clip to clip when you use reference images, and generated voices have more variety and sound more realistic. The prompt box lets you add brand images and characters as what Google calls ingredients, which is a friendlier word than "uploads".
Who can use it, and when?
Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash is available in Vids on Workspace Business Starter, Standard and Plus and Enterprise plans, and on personal Google accounts.
The rollout started on 5 November and takes one to three days to appear. There's no admin control, so it will turn up whether or not anyone planned for it. Usage limits apply, and Google's AI Expanded Access add-on raises them.
Should your business use it?
Your business should try Omni in Vids for short social clips and internal explainers, where 15 seconds is plenty.
My take: if you're already on a Workspace Business plan, this is included, so the cost of finding out is an afternoon. Start with one product image and one simple idea. Watch every clip properly before it goes out, because a generated video that makes your product look better than it is remains your claim to stand behind. With no admin switch, it's also worth telling staff what they can and can't publish.
Fifteen seconds is long enough to make a point, and about 14 more than most of us give an ad.
