Gemini Notebook now shows you the outline before it builds your slides, like checking the plans before the concrete goes in
By Brett Gavaghan, Founder of Adaptd ·
Google's Gemini Notebook now lets you review and comment on a slide outline or video notes before it creates a Slide Deck or Video Overview. It's rolling out to Workspace and personal accounts.
The short version
- Gemini Notebook can now show you a slide outline or video notes for feedback before it builds anything.
- It's rolling out from 16 October to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google accounts, taking up to 15 days to appear.
- Turn on the review step for anything a client will see, and skip it for quick internal drafts.
Asking AI for a deck used to feel like ordering a cake by text: you described it, crossed your fingers, and found out at the party. Gemini Notebook now lets you see the plan first.
What's new in Gemini Notebook?
Gemini Notebook now builds Slide Decks and Video Overviews step by step, so you can steer it before the final version is made. When you ask in chat, it suggests focus topics, formats and visual styles based on your sources, and fills those in already if your prompt covers them.
A Review toggle shows you the slide outline or the video's producer notes in the Studio panel first. You can leave written feedback, then generate. If you're in a hurry, skip the review and generate straight away.
Who can use it, and when?
Gemini Notebook's review step is coming to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts. Google announced it on 21 October, and the gradual rollout started on 16 October, so it can take up to 15 days to appear.
There's no separate admin setting for it. If your organisation has Gemini Notebook switched on, the review step comes along with it.
Should your business use it?
Your business should use the review step for anything a client or the board will see. Fixing an outline takes a minute; fixing 14 finished slides takes the afternoon.
My take: this is a small change that matches how good work already happens. Nobody sensible lets a junior build the whole deck before agreeing the storyline, and the same rule works for AI. For quick internal summaries, skip the review and keep moving.
It's the difference between checking the plans and checking the slab.
