Notion Mail shuts down on 22 September - what to export this week

Notion is closing its standalone email app on all platforms. Your emails stay in Gmail, but anything that lived only in the app - drafts, scheduled sends, snippets, auto-label rules - is deleted unless you save it by 21 September.

Notion Mail, the inbox app Notion launched in April 2025, closes on 22 September 2026. The web app, desktop app and iOS app all stop working on that date, on every subscription tier. Notion opened an export window on 25 June and the last day to save anything is 21 September.

Because Notion Mail synced two ways with Gmail, your sent and received email is not affected - it is all still in your Gmail account. What lives only in Notion Mail, and will be deleted, is the list Notion has published: drafts, scheduled emails, snippets plus any files attached to them, and auto-label instructions. Notion's help page walks through moving drafts and scheduled emails back to Gmail and exporting snippets and label rules as text. Notion says email will continue to be handled through its AI connectors and agents, which can search, draft or send Gmail from inside Notion.

If anyone on your team adopted Notion Mail, this is a small but time-boxed job. A sales rep with twenty scheduled follow-ups or a support lead with a library of snippet replies could lose real work on Monday without noticing until they go looking for it.

Send a short note to your team today asking who uses it, and have each person check the four items above. The exports take minutes. If your business relies on the auto-label rules, decide now whether they get rebuilt in Gmail filters or handed to a Notion agent.

Standalone AI apps come and go quickly at the moment. The habit to build is knowing what data lives only inside a tool before you make it part of a daily workflow.
