Canva's new Brush model edits a whole deck from one instruction, so the 40-slide font change stops eating your Friday
By Brett Gavaghan, Founder of Adaptd ·
Canva launched Brush on 30 October, an AI model that edits existing designs from a single line of copy up to a whole presentation. It's in Canva AI for Pro subscribers now.
The short version
- Canva Brush is a new AI model that edits existing Canva designs from a written instruction.
- It launched on 30 October 2026 for Canva Pro subscribers in Canva AI, with wider availability coming.
- Try it on a repetitive job, like updating headers across a deck or resizing a slide into an Instagram post.
Making a design from scratch was never the slow part. Changing the same thing on every page of it was. Canva's new model goes after that job.
What is Canva Brush?
Canva Brush is an AI model built by Canva Research that edits designs you already have. It reads the structure of a design and makes the change you ask for, from one line of copy to every slide in a deck.
Canva's examples include changing the colour scheme or mood of an image, updating headers across a whole design in one prompt, and resizing a presentation slide into an Instagram graphic. Every element stays editable, so you can still take over by hand. Canva says Brush is up to 69% faster and 46% cheaper per edit than its previous design agent.
Who can use it, and how?
Canva Brush is available now in Canva AI for people on Canva Pro plans, and Canva says wider availability is coming soon. To use it, open a design in the editor, or attach or link one in Canva AI, then choose Brush from the dropdown.
Brand Kit support isn't there yet. Canva says it's working on it, along with referencing attachments and handling image-heavy layouts better.
Should your business use it?
If you're on Canva Pro and spend time reworking old designs, Brush is worth trying on the boring jobs: new dates on a template, new prices across a menu, a deck turned into social posts.
My take: give it one clear instruction at a time and check every page before it goes out. Not on Pro? You'll have to wait for the wider release. Until Brand Kit support arrives, keep an eye on your colours and fonts too.
It won't make your designs better on its own. It just means the fortieth fix costs the same as the first.
