Claude for Nonprofits gets a plugin for fundraising and hiring, built for charities where everyone wears four hats
By Brett Gavaghan, Founder of Adaptd ·
Anthropic released a Claude for Nonprofits plugin on 26 October, with skills for fundraising, marketing, hiring and board work. Australian charities can qualify for nonprofit plans through Anthropic's verification partner.
The short version
- The Claude for Nonprofits plugin is a set of skills and connectors for fundraising, marketing, hiring, board work and responsible AI setup.
- Anthropic released it on 26 October 2026 for verified nonprofits, built with about 30 nonprofit organisations.
- If you run a small charity, check your eligibility and set up the policy and data skills before the fundraising ones.
In a small charity, the fundraiser is often also the HR department, and the one who knows where the board papers are. Anthropic has built a Claude plugin with exactly that person in mind.
What is the Claude for Nonprofits plugin?
The Claude for Nonprofits plugin is a set of Claude skills and connectors for nonprofit work, released by Anthropic on 26 October 2026. Anthropic built it with about 30 nonprofits in its Design Partner Circle.
It covers marketing (campaigns sized to your team and drafts in your organisation's voice), hiring (job posts, interview guides and a 90-day plan for new staff), and board work (spotting skill gaps and preparing orientation packs and meeting decks). It also helps teams set Claude up with their own policies, and supports fundraising from research through to reporting.
Can Australian charities use it?
Australian charities can use Claude for Nonprofits if they pass verification through Goodstack, which accepts organisations registered with the ACNC or recognised by the ATO as DGR or tax-exempt nonprofits. Anthropic says more than 25,000 nonprofits use Claude, and most have fewer than 10 seats.
Some parts are US-only. The Claude Corps fellowship places early-career fellows in US nonprofits, so don't wait for a fellow to turn up in Ballarat.
Should your nonprofit use it?
Your nonprofit should try the plugin if a small team is covering too many roles, especially with year-end fundraising coming. The hiring and board skills save the most time on work nobody enjoys.
My take: start with the setup and policy skills. Decide what donor data Claude can see before anyone asks it to write a grant report.
Donors trust you with their details. That trust doesn't transfer to the AI automatically.
