Claude Design is moving into Claude on 14 December, and your old chats aren't coming in the removal truck

By , Founder of Adaptd ·

Anthropic is closing the standalone Claude Design site and folding the tool into Claude. Design systems can move across now, but chats, comments and public project links stay behind.

The short version

  • Anthropic is closing the standalone Claude Design site, claude.ai/design, on 14 December 2026 and moving the tool into Claude.
  • Design systems can be migrated now on any plan, but chats and project comments stay behind and are deleted after the site closes.
  • Run the migration, save anything you need from chats and comments, and replace any public project links you've shared.

Software loves a reshuffle, and this one has a closing date. If anyone in your team made something in Claude Design, it's worth ten minutes before the Christmas rush.

What is changing with Claude Design?

Claude Design is moving from its standalone website into the main Claude app. Anthropic's help guide says claude.ai/design closes on 14 December 2026, and after that the address takes you to Claude.

New designs, design systems and slide decks you start in Claude are saved as artifacts, alongside the other things Claude builds for you. Claude Design is available on every plan, including Free.

What moves across, and what gets left behind?

Design systems move across to Claude, but chats with Claude and comments on projects don't. One migration, started from the Artifacts page in Claude, brings over every design system in your organisation, and anyone who can use Claude Design can start it.

Empty design systems and ones built from a starter theme aren't migrated. Projects keep working in the old site until it closes, and Anthropic says more detail on moving them is coming. You can download a project as a zip file in the meantime. Public links to projects stop working after the closure. On Enterprise plans, design systems are switched off by default, so an owner needs to turn them on first.

What should your business do before 14 December?

Your business should run the design system migration now and save anything from chats or comments you'll want later. It's a small job while the old site is still open, and an annoying one after it isn't.

My advice: check whether anyone has sent a client a public Claude Design link, because that link will break. Swap it for a PDF or a fresh link before the client finds out for you. And if a decision only lives in a chat thread, copy it into a proper document.

It's like moving house. The box nobody labelled is always the one you need first.
