Claude can now build a live dashboard from your company data, so the monthly numbers stop living in one person's spreadsheet
By Brett Gavaghan, Founder of Adaptd ·
On 8 October Anthropic added Dashboards and Motion to Claude in beta, and took its Docs, Slides and Design tools out of beta for every plan.
The short version
- Claude Dashboards turns a plain-language question about your company data into a chart that stays current as the data changes.
- Dashboards is in beta on paid plans and Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise, and the Docs and Slides tools are now on every plan, Free included.
- Try Dashboards on one routine question first, and click through to the query behind each number before you share it.
Most businesses have one person who knows how to pull the numbers, and a queue of people waiting for them. Anthropic would like Claude to be that person.
What are Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion?
Claude Dashboards is a new Claude feature that connects to your company data and builds a dashboard from a question asked in plain English. It works with data platforms like BigQuery or Snowflake, and with connectors such as Salesforce, and each chart refreshes as the data changes.
Click any number and Claude shows the query behind it. Claude Motion turns a report or chart into a short animated explainer you can edit and download as an MP4. Anthropic says it animates your own material, with no generated footage and no AI-generated people.
Who can use it, and when?
Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid Claude plans, and Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise, both from 8 October 2026. Enterprise admins have to switch them on in Organization settings.
Claude's Docs, Slides and Design tools have also left beta and are on every plan, including Free. For Enterprise they turn on by default on 15 October. The standalone claude.ai/design site closes on 14 December, so teams using it should move their design systems across before then.
Should your business use Claude Dashboards?
Businesses that already keep sales or customer data in a connected platform should test Claude Dashboards on one question they ask every week.
My take: this is useful for the quick 'how did last month compare?' questions that currently need a favour from whoever owns the spreadsheet. Anthropic pitches it for exploratory questions, with your existing reporting tools for the deeper work. My advice: check the query behind any number before it goes in front of the board. A confident chart with the wrong date range is still the wrong date range, just better looking.
