You can now share a ChatGPT Site without putting it on the open web

OpenAI added external sharing to ChatGPT Sites, so you can send a live page to a named client or contractor without publishing it or paying for another seat.

What changed in ChatGPT Sites sharing?
On 3 September OpenAI changed how ChatGPT Sites are shared. If you own a Site, you can now send it to specific people by email, even when they are not part of your workspace. Before that, your two options were adding someone to the workspace or publishing the page for anyone to find.
The people you share with can use the Site but cannot edit or publish it. The change applies across ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu.
Why does private sharing of ChatGPT Sites matter?
For a business running on ChatGPT, private sharing removes a small but constant friction. A Site is a working page that ChatGPT builds for you, such as a pricing calculator or an onboarding checklist for new clients. You want one client or contractor to open those pages, not a Google search to find them. Until now you paid for a seat or you went public.
How should your business handle shared Sites?
Treat the new sharing as convenience rather than access control. A named-viewer link is still a link, so keep anything you would not put in an email off the page, and review who still has access when a project finishes. Also decide who on your team can create Sites at all, because that is a page with your business name on it.
