ChatGPT can now dig through your iCloud Mail and Calendar, which is more than the iPhone search bar manages most days

OpenAI has added iCloud Mail and Calendar as connected apps in ChatGPT, on every plan. It can find emails, summarise your inbox and update calendar events.

The short version

  • ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar to find emails, catch up on your inbox and check or update events.
  • OpenAI says it's available on all ChatGPT plans, on the web, the desktop app and iOS.
  • Decide what's in that inbox before you connect it, and check any calendar change ChatGPT makes.

Plenty of small businesses run on an iCloud email address and the calendar that came with the phone. ChatGPT can now plug straight into both.

What is the ChatGPT iCloud connection?

ChatGPT now has iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar as connected apps, so it can search your email and read and change your calendar when you ask it to. OpenAI added them in its ChatGPT release notes around 26 October 2026.

In practice that means questions like "what did the plumber quote us in September?" or "what have I got on Thursday afternoon?", answered from your own mail and calendar. It can also catch you up on your inbox and update calendar events.

Who can use it, and when?

OpenAI says the iCloud connection is available on all ChatGPT plans, on the web, in the desktop app and on iOS. The release notes don't mention any regional limits, so Australian users should see it under connected apps.

That's handy if your business never moved off the Apple account you set up on day one, and your bookings still live in the iPhone calendar.

Should your business connect it?

Your business should connect iCloud to ChatGPT only if you're comfortable with ChatGPT reading everything in that mailbox. If the same inbox holds client files, bank notices and your kid's school emails, think about that first.

My advice: start with search and catch-up, which only read. Check every calendar change before you rely on it, at least for the first few weeks. And if you're on a free plan, check your data settings so you know how your chats are used.

Worst case, it finds the email you swore you never got. Best case, it finds the email you swore you sent.

Wondering what this means for your business?

That's exactly what the discovery call is for.
