Amazon sellers can now manage their store from inside Claude
Amazon has opened its seller tools to outside AI assistants, starting with Anthropic's Claude. The plugin is in beta for the US marketplace.
Amazon announced on 23 September that sellers can now run parts of their Amazon business from outside Seller Central. The first outside assistant it supports is Anthropic's Claude, alongside Amazon's own Quick assistant. The news came at Amazon's Accelerate conference in Seattle.
Through the new Claude plugin, a seller can check inventory, change prices, update product listings and look at sales and performance figures. Claude asks the seller to approve an action before it carries it out. The plugin is in beta for the US marketplace, and Amazon says it plans to expand to other countries. Amazon also announced a canvas view in its Seller Assistant for comparing pricing and checking ad campaigns, and background automations that watch the business and act once the seller approves.
Amazon's VP of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, Mary Beth Westmoreland, said the aim is that sellers would never have to log into Seller Central. For a midsize business that sells on Amazon, that means routine checks like stock levels and price changes can happen in the same chat window where you already write emails and plan work.
If you try it, start with read-only questions such as stock and sales figures before you let it change prices or listings. Keep the approval step on, and check a few changes by hand in Seller Central for the first couple of weeks. If you sell outside the US, the plugin is not available to you yet.
More business software is connecting straight into AI assistants. Amazon is a large one to add to the list.
