Copilot Notebooks can now read your Outlook emails and Teams meetings

Microsoft has added emails and meeting transcripts as sources you can pin to a Copilot Notebook, so answers come from one project's material instead of everything you own.

Microsoft's latest Copilot release notes add two sources to Copilot Notebooks. You can now add Outlook emails as a knowledge source, and you can add Teams meetings as references, including their transcripts and anything shared in them. The notebook navigation was reworked in the same update.

A Copilot Notebook is a container you fill with the material for one job. Instead of asking Copilot to search everything your account can see, you pin the material that belongs to one project and ask your questions against that. Emails work in Copilot Notebooks on Windows and the web. Meetings are available on Windows, web, Android and iOS. You need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.

This matters more than it sounds for a business with a few long-running projects. Most of the real detail about a client sits in a mail thread and a meeting recording, not in the tidy document someone wrote afterwards. Pinning those to one notebook means a handover or a scope question gets answered from the actual record.

Be deliberate about what you pin. An email thread can contain pricing or someone's personal situation, and anyone with access to that notebook can now ask questions of it. Set up notebooks per project rather than per person, decide who can open each one, and check your meeting recording and transcript settings before you start adding them.
