ChatGPT can now see your work and personal Google accounts in one chat

OpenAI has let ChatGPT connect more than one Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts account at once. For anyone running a business from two inboxes, that small change removes a daily friction point.

Until now, connecting Google to ChatGPT meant picking one account. Most business owners have at least two: the company Workspace account and the personal Gmail that somehow still receives half the important things. This week's ChatGPT release notes add support for connecting multiple accounts for the Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts plugins, and using them together in the same conversation.

In practice, that means you can ask ChatGPT to look at both calendars when planning your day, find an email you half-remember without knowing which inbox it landed in, or pull a contact's details regardless of which account holds them. None of that is dramatic on its own. It is the kind of thing that saves a couple of minutes, a dozen times a day.

It also matters for how you set up assistants for your team. A lot of the friction in 'AI for admin' projects comes from accounts, permissions and which system holds what. Every time a tool gets better at spanning those boundaries, the boring-but-valuable automations get easier to build and easier to trust.

Two sensible cautions. First, be deliberate about which accounts you connect: a connected inbox is a connected inbox, so treat it with the same care you would give any integration that can read your mail. Second, if you work with client data under any kind of confidentiality obligation, check your firm's policy before linking that account to a consumer AI tool.

If your days are spent bouncing between inboxes and calendars, this is a small win worth taking. And if you want the same convenience wired into the tools your whole team uses, that is exactly the kind of practical job we like to start with.
