ChatGPT Space gives teams a shared place to work with ChatGPT

OpenAI's new Space lets a team and ChatGPT work from the same shared files and pages, with its dots agents able to join in. It's live now for paid Pro and business customers, on desktop and web.

OpenAI announced ChatGPT Space at DevDay on 29 September. A Space is a shared hub where your team and ChatGPT work from the same information and files, and OpenAI's new dots agents can use it too. It's available now on the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans, in the ChatGPT desktop app and on the web. OpenAI says mobile access is coming soon.

Inside a Space you create pages. ChatGPT can fill a page with text and charts, and colleagues can then read it and give feedback. OpenAI says shared slides that export to PowerPoint and Google Slides are coming soon. There's also a meeting plugin that writes up notes and action items and adds them to the Space. Engadget reports that the plugin deletes the audio once the notes are done.

Business and Enterprise customers also get ChatGPT inside Slack and Microsoft Teams. You mention @ChatGPT in a conversation and ask it for something, such as slides based on the discussion. With permission from an admin or the user, it can also use the tools your team has connected to Slack or Teams.

For a midsize business this puts shared AI work in one place instead of spreading it across personal chat histories. It also puts more of your company information in front of ChatGPT. Before you roll it out, agree who can create Spaces and which apps get connected. If you plan to use the meeting plugin on calls, decide how you'll tell customers and suppliers that it's taking notes.

If your team already shares ChatGPT outputs by copying them into email, one Space for a single project is a sensible first test. Try it for a month and see whether people keep using it.
