OpenAI added a security history page to ChatGPT on 25 September. It lists recent activity on your OpenAI account, so you can check who has signed in and whether anyone changed your login settings.

The page shows sign-ins and sign-outs, plus changes to multi-factor authentication, passkeys and other security settings. Each entry has a time, a location and a device. OpenAI notes that some of those details may be approximate or missing. To open it on the web, go to Settings, then Security and login, then Security history. OpenAI also has an Active sessions page, which lets you sign out any session you don't recognise.

If your team uses ChatGPT for client work, an account holds more than old chats. It can have connected apps, uploaded files and saved memory. A stranger signed into that account can see all of it. This page is a quick way to spot a login from a city or device nobody on your team uses.

Set a reminder to check it once a month, and ask each person who uses ChatGPT for work to do the same. If you see something you don't recognise, sign out the session, change the password and turn on multi-factor authentication if it isn't on already. On shared logins, this is also a good moment to give each person their own account, because a shared account makes the history hard to read.

The check takes a couple of minutes. It is worth doing on any AI account that can reach your business data.
